IDEA

"I have an idea."

As a future school media specialist, when I hear the words, "I have an idea," it means that a student has become inspired to begin the pursuit of an inquiry, and that's when I pay close attention.

On these pages, I plan to express my definition of literacy, my mission to transform my library into an adventurous brainstorm zone, and how I plan to motivate my students to become lifelong inquirers in the 21st century.

Here at IDEA, we reach high. We believe that developing the incredible ability to ask questions, seek answers, and formulate new ideas will land our students in the greatest places in the world.

When we read about the wildly unknown, it becomes the wildly understood.

Further the cause. Explore these pages. On them, you will find my blueprints.

How IDEA defines literacy:

My definition of literacy is developing deep comprehension of various topics through vast exploration. Having literacy means asking, reading, finding, doing, thinking, formulating, and creating. Literacy also means internalizing the motivation and the bravery it takes to never settle on a single answer. As a future school media specialist, I consider myself the adventurous tour guide who chants the words: "Never. Stop. Asking. Questions."

One of the best things we have control over as human beings is the power to remain curious.

"If you handed me something new to learn, I want to learn it the hard way. I want to start out without having a clue what I'm doing, and end up covered in mud, holding a flag on top of a mountain, and screaming my victory song. That's how I prefer to journey." -Lauren Stevens
