What do I mean by Literacy 2.0?

In the IDEA library, we will create a Literacy 2.0 ecosystem by challenging ourselves to pursue meaningful inquiries. To give our inquiries meaning, we first analyze our question, and map our path to answers. We will then research the facts using databases that our library has access to. We will find relevancy within the content by having collaborative conversations with one another. When we do this, we are building awareness, gaining insight, and becoming a supportive team of analysts. Lastly, we formulate a plan to express our ideas creatively. The IDEA library is equipped with safe, reliable, yet innovative, and exciting online and offline tools. We will be using those tools to build projects with the idea that they can potentially be shared and delivered beyond the walls of our library. 

What are the options? 

Priorities for future leaders include collaboration, building new ideas, graphic design, photography, film, creating infographics, engineering, testing new technology, conceptualizing and marketing a brand, running a blog, becoming fearless entrepreneurs and ambassadors, and so much more. These are the types of projects that my students will be tested to consider. The IDEA library exists to push the envelope.

What does this look like?

We will provide an atmosphere the has inclusive, welcoming spaces dedicated to various interests. We will provide tools to build, take apart, design, code, record, film, sew, cook, photograph, and even experience virtual reality. We will provide an atmosphere that is ever-expanding. The more interests we have, the more tools we will make our way to obtain. The IDEA library promotes the freedom to try the unknown, be imperfect, make mistakes, and share our discoveries.

How will you get the funding?

That's up to us! Together, as the "Adventurous Brainstormers," we will stop at nothing to find the answer to this question. Let's go big!
